Dear Wolfpack Families,
We are excited to take the next step forward in our Tier I Midget Teams with announcing the launch of Billet Program for the upcoming 2025/2026 season. This program provides an incredible opportunity for potential out-of-town players to have a safe, supportive, and family-oriented living arrangement while they pursue their hockey goals with the Wolfpack Hockey Club.
What is a Billet Program? A Billet Program is designed to provide housing for players who are from outside the area and require accommodation during the hockey season. Host families, also known as "billets," open their homes to players, providing them with a caring environment that feels like family. Billet families are crucial to the success of our organization and the development of our players both on and off the ice.
Why Is the Billet Program Important?
- Support for Young Athletes: The billet program offers players the stability and care they need while away from their own families. It helps ease the transition for young athletes adjusting to a new team, school, and community.
- Fostering Community Spirit: Hosting players brings the community together and allows families to share in the excitement and passion for the sport.
- Life Skills: Billet families often form lasting relationships with the players, creating valuable mentorship and opportunities for personal growth.
Responsibilities of a Billet Family As a billet family, you will be expected to:
- Provide a safe and welcoming living environment for the player.
- Offer a private or shared bedroom, access to meals, and support in transportation coordination for team practices (if necessary).
- Support the player’s emotional well-being, helping them adjust to their new environment and balancing their academic and athletic responsibilities.
- Be a positive role model and encourage good sportsmanship and teamwork.
