Dear Woodbridge Wolfpack Families,
The Woodbridge Wolfpack Hockey Club is proud to announce our participation in this summer’s Shooting For A Cure – A Million Shot Challenge, joining organizations from across North America in an initiative that combines player development, personal accountability, and charitable giving in support of an extraordinary cause.
As a hockey community, we often speak about the values our sport teaches—commitment, perseverance, discipline, teamwork, and character. Shooting For A Cure embodies all of those principles while providing our players with an opportunity to make a meaningful impact far beyond the rink. Throughout the summer, Wolfpack players will challenge themselves to improve their skills, build positive training habits, and help raise funds for pediatric oncology research and support services.

The Cause
Shooting For A Cure raises funds for Mo's Smile Foundation in partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The foundation was established in honor and memory of Maurice “Mo” Campbell II, a talented and beloved 2003 birth-year hockey player from the North Jersey Avalanche organization.
Mo was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive Stage IV cancer known as Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT). Throughout a courageous four-and-a-half-year battle, he inspired countless teammates, coaches, families, and members of the hockey community through his unwavering strength, positivity, and determination. His legacy continues to impact lives through the incredible work of Mo’s Smile and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
We encourage all families to learn more about Mo’s story and the foundation’s mission by visiting:

The Challenge
The challenge is simple, but the impact can be extraordinary.
- Older players are challenged to shoot 100 pucks per day for at least 50 days, reaching a minimum of 5,000 shots.
- Younger players are challenged to shoot 50 pucks per day for at least 50 days, reaching a minimum of 2,500 shots.
For our Wolfpack goaltenders, creativity is encouraged. Goalies may choose activities such as:
- Down-ups in full equipment
- Catching or blocking pucks in off-ice training sessions
- Passing and stickhandling drills with their goalie stick
- Or even joining the shooters and firing pucks themselves
The objective is not perfection—it is participation. Every player can contribute and every effort matters.
The Rules
Players may complete their shots wherever is most convenient and accessible. Whether it is in the driveway, garage, basement, local park, tennis court, street hockey rink, or on the ice, every shot counts.
Participants may use regulation pucks, training pucks, street hockey balls, shooting pads, or any other equipment that allows them to safely participate.
The challenge operates on the honor system, and we trust our players and families to record and report their progress honestly and accurately. Integrity remains one of the most important lessons sports can teach.
Fundraising Efforts
In addition to tracking shots, players are encouraged to seek pledges and donations from family members, friends, neighbors, teammates, and members of the community.
While the funds raised will directly support an important cause, the fundraising component is also designed to teach valuable life lessons. By setting a goal, working toward it every day, and following through on commitments made to supporters, our athletes develop accountability, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of service to others.
The Wolfpack Commitment
The Woodbridge Wolfpack is fully committed to this initiative.
As an organization, if our players collectively surpass 1,000,000 shots before the start of the 2026-2027 season, the Woodbridge Wolfpack Hockey Club will contribute $10,000 directly to the Shooting For A Cure campaign.
We believe in the power of our players, families, coaches, and community. Together, we can make a significant impact both in player development and in the lives of those battling cancer.
